The MTO will trump the WTO

International trade treaties and organizations like the WTO transfer whole areas of sovereignty from governments to multinational corporations. Of this there can be no doubt. Now, the rules are made by these agreements, not by the "sovereign" signatory nations. Rules pertaining to agriculture have been a disaster for the world's rural poor. In an earlier blog I wrote about the Membership Trust Organization (MTO). I say the MTO will trump the WTO. Given the opportunity to establish a Trust, and keep family earnings within the family for generations, the rural (and urban) poor will begin to use their Family Trust as a tool to educate the young and preserve capital for future generations. Fossil fuels needed for international goods transport will deplete and local trade will again be the norm, giving the now-educated youth more opportunity to earn cash for deposit into the Family Trust. MTO will trump WTO.
