If you are a catholic, you may have heard of the term "trusteeism". Non-catholics are unlikely to know the term, for it refers to movements by lay catholics to wrest parish control away from the local bishop(s). It is my purpose in this blog to give shape to a new use of the term. "Trusteeism" here means the practice of prudently managing the property of another. It is an economic practice that can be used by a family unit to accumulate and conserve wealth through generations. Explaining this practice completely is not a brief task. I suppose I shall have to write a book to do this. OK. It might start like this. . .
Dear Reader ~ Thank you for reading this far. Allow me to tell you what this book is about. It is about keeping family wealth in the family. Don't worry, you won't get confused as we go along. There are no charts or graphs, or complicated ideas. You won't be confused, but you will probably be challenged. That is because some things, things that we may have often heard are true, will be challenged here. For a quick example, the notion that happiness comes naturally with lots of money. In fact, if lots of money is quickly acquired without adequate education - the money can become a curse.
The first thing covered will be definitions. I want the reader to know exactly what I mean when I use terms like "family", "wealth", "education", etc. After definitions comes, well, the rest. More to come.
