Socialism is Toast
Never build wealth on a shaky foundation, and never pursue a lost cause. Capitalism is not going to go away anytime soon. People are too distracted by their desire to acquire shiny consumer stuff to foment socialist revolution. Tsar Nicholas II mismanaged Russia so badly that the people of that great nation gave a home to socialism. But socialism never really caught on in the rest of the world. When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, socialism collapsed as well. Socialism is toast. The recent sub-prime credit crunch will spur more regulatory control over capitalists, but nothing approaching socialism. Over time, as the masses begin to understand that some things are done more efficiently by government workers than by the private sector, there will be more Scandinavian-type social democracies. Nevertheless, capitalism will remain the dominant economic system. Socialism is a lost cause. For now, the strongest foundation upon which we can build wealth is capitalism. What is needed, is not the destruction of capitalism; but an "attachment" to capitalism. This attachment would be an economic tool that would enable a family to modify and improve their economic life while living in a capitalist economy. The objective of this blog is to describe the theoretical elements of that tool, and to chronicle my effort to model that tool with my own family.
